Mark and his family moved to Houston in 2008, working for a major fortune 500 company, and purchase his first ever home about 2 weeks before Hurricane Ike arrived.  Mark has a wife, Svetlana, who works for a Russian oil & gas company here in Houston, and two daughters (that are growing up way too fast) — one that lives here in Houston, and another off at college in the beautiful Texas hill country.  In 2015, Mark made the decision to leave his finance job to instead stay in Houston, and transition into a career in insurance — but that isn’t exactly how it happened.  After getting licensed to sell insurance in Texas, Mark decided to take time off to pursue a real estate investment project.  And that is how markbuyshomesforcash.com was started.

Shortly after completing his first ‘fix & flip’ project in West Houston, Mark decided to refocus his efforts in 2018, and launched a new company that would be more geographically focused on the western half of Harris County, and Fort Bend County.  Houston Westside Home Buyers is a dba name owned by the new entity called Houston Westside Investments, LLC.  The business name of markbuyshomesforcash.com will continue to be used, although eventually we plan to shift this brand for use elsewhere,  outside of Houston in smaller communities around the Lone Star State.

Mark still buys houses for cash in and around Houston, and not only on the west side of town — although that is the area he knows best.  And it isn’t just Mark now, it is Mark and a small (but expanding) group of investors.  Even now as a group, we are still local investors that operate here in the big city with small town values and integrity.  We cannot buy every house we look at (nobody can), but we’ll be open and honest with you in the process.  That is just how we operate.

Our Early Days

The first project we ever did was an house that had passed by inheritance to a lady living out of state.  Another local investor, and now a good friend, named Marshall, brought this first renovation project to me.  Once I saw the property, I had a vision for what it would be with a proper renovation.  The renovation turned out to be more challenging than anticipated, but nevertheless we were able to bring that ship into port and deliver it — the gratification you get when you see a young couple moving into your house is really hard to describe.   Marshall will tell you about how this little adventure all came together, and how we helped remove a major burden for somebody that needed a viable cost-effective solution.
